Christmas

So did everyone get what they wanted? I had a great Christmas! There was only one small problem. I get over excited about Christmas like a little kid. So Friday night, not even Saturday night, I wake up several times with the urge to race down stairs and stare at the Christmas tree. So there was little sleep to be had. Then Saturday night I went to bed late thinking that I would be to tired to wake up but no. I stared at the clock every half an hour until about 4 in the morning when I finally got up and raced down the stairs turned on the tree lights and stared at the presents for a few minutes. Then I turned everything back off and went back to bed. I spent the next two hours just waiting to hear someone else moving. About 6 my father got in the shower. A sign it was time. So I go up, turned on the Christmas lights, turned on the Christmas music, started the coffee and sat down in front of the tree to wait. It was really nice to sip coffee in front of the tree.

Oh I should talk about the tree. In my family it has been a running joke about the shape of the Christmas tree. Each year my brother and I return home for Christmas there is always a tree. Sometimes it is round on one side and completely flat on the other, sometimes it is really skinny on top and very, very fat on the bottom, sometimes it seems to be the reverse…well you get the idea. So for a while we were convinced the parents were picking the tree that looked least likely to find a home because they didn’t want any tree to feel lonely. So it was a surprise to come home and find an almost perfect tree. It was a very beautiful tree. Not that the others weren’t they just were, well, unique.

Anyway two hours after racing down the stairs and starting the coffee we could finally open presents. I had actually been awake and waiting for about 4 hours by then. So Christmas was great but I did't get very much sleep. So now we are opening presents and in our family presents are opened one at a time. This is great because you can see what everyone gets but there are certain members of the family that open their presents and then start to assemble them or read them while the rest of us stare waiting for the go sign that they are paying attention again. It makes slow opening from time to time.

Well hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Another boring post

OK so I have been a little slow writing something new. I know many of you would probably consider me a little slow anyway. Well part of the problem has been that I don’t know what to write about.

I will start with class. It is finally done. Three classes and I will never take another class again. Maybe that isn’t true but that is the way I feel right now. After rushing around like crazy I managed to finish my paper and study for my exam though it did cut into my gym time. Yes I go to the gym and I go often or so everyone thinks. I need to use up my extra energy. That and my lovely husband has the best parents in the world and they are taking us to Hawaii in June and I want a bikini body. Not that I’ll wear one but I want to be able to if I chose to do so. So the gym is my friend. I suppose a diet would be too but that takes to much time and energy. The gym is only an hour or so a day and only during the week. I treat it like work something that must be done. I prefer the gym to work.

Christmas is almost here. I am excited about being home and opening presents. I unfortunately have been having problems buying presents. I have a couple of people on my list who seem to have everything and anything they don’t have is to expensive for my budget. I really work hard to find the perfect gift so I don’t want to just get a gift card or something but I may be forced to do if something doesn’t come to me soon. If only I could get someone a Budweiser clock. I am sure I know where to find one of those.

Meanwhile my wish list is:
Clothes
Winter boots
New gym sneakers
Radio for my sewing room
Books
PDA
Jewelry

I know my list isn’t very interesting in fact my post isn’t very interesting but I just don’t know what to talk about.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas, Phone calls and Paint

So in the news Bush is getting harassed again and for once I don’t think he deserves it. I can’t believe people are mad at him for sending out generic holiday cards that say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. The man sends out a million cards all over the world for the season. Now with Hanukah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa is it really appropriate to wish a Merry Christmas to his friends and fellow politicians/leaders if they do not celebrate Christmas but Hanukah or Kwanzaa? I figure Happy Holidays includes all celebrations of the season. I guess people need something to complain about. Just think if he sent out Merry Christmas cards the Hanukah and Kwanzaa people then would be complaining. Don’t people have better things to do with their time?

Ok so last night I got a phone call. It was from a friend that I did not expect to hear from. He can never decide if he likes me or hates me I think so for a while I will hear from him and then I wont. Anyway he talked for 50 minutes and I could barely get a word in. He switched subjects like a true ADHD person on caffeine. In fact that is what he was. Well anyway I was really happy to hear from him and to know that he is doing ok even if he probably has no idea how I am doing because he never stopped talking. He did make a comment that I was mean but when asked when I was mean his answer had nothing to do with him and he had his story wrong. I corrected him but my guess is that he will have the story wrong again next time he tries to tell that story. I would like to thank him for not calling me again last night after I went to bed to see how long voice mail really will let you talk. I appreciate that but it probably was because he had forgotten about me and had moved on to the next phone victim.

Meanwhile the kitchen is almost done! I think I could have it done by the end of the weekend in fact IF I did not have a paper to write and an exam to study for. But Mr. Toad has been working on the kitchen. I think it is because he can play with the saw cutting molding. I must hurry up and get my kitchen done so I can remove all the kitchen stuff from the dining room. If I don’t I’ll never be able to get my tree. “Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree…”

My cats like to help with the painting. The kitchen project is a family project! First we paint then they walk along the wall and wipe the paint off with their fur. Our cats have green fur! They may not be so bright.

Hello everyone! I am back from the west coast. Has anyone ever wondered why the east coast is the shore and the west coast is just the coast? I called the coast the shore once by accident and I thought the people of Oregon were going to come after me. I guess they don’t like the Jersey Shore either.

Our adventure started with the night before. Packing. I should perhaps invest in something bigger then a duffel bag. I started pulling clothes out of the closet for a 10-day trip. So that naturally would include brown shoes, black shoes, sneakers and slippers, three pairs of pants, dress clothes, everyday clothes, it is cold so sweaters not t-shirts, socks…. Now the bed is covered with clothes and one little bag. Mr. Toad is standing there staring at my stuff and looking at my little bag and he starts laughing. He reminds me that we are staying with his parents and can do laundry. Ok so I need 5 days of stuff and an extra outfit just in case, 3 pairs of shoes and slippers…. I start carefully folding and packing my clothes but discover that everything will not fit. Mr. Toad has left the room leaving his bag unprotected. Why his bag is bigger then mine I will never know. So I start putting things in the bottom of his bag. Under his stuff so perhaps he wont notice. Everything is now packed except the bathroom stuff. Well in the morning I pack up my little bathroom bag and look innocently at Mr. Toad and ask him very nicely or as nicely as possible considering it is 4 in the morning “Can I please pack my bathroom stuff in your bag?” “No,” Mr. Toad says, “You have already packed to much stuff in my bag.” I guess trying to hide my stuff in his bag didn’t work. Well one temper tantrum later my stuff was in his bag. “What? You didn’t think I wasn’t going to win did you?”

Ok so everyone knows that airline food is bad to begin with but now they want you to pay extra for the stale roll with a piece of processed meat and a packet of mustard. $5 in fact for this privilege. Are they crazy?

At this point we are in the very wet state of Oregon. We had a great time. Visited the family and toured around a little bit. It did rain everyday we were there but I suppose some consider that better then snow. Anyway the family was great. Everyone is very nice and we enjoyed hanging out and doing nothing. Of course the end came quicker then we would have liked. Now I am back and avoiding work as usual.
